Hi @Barb184,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're still experiencing issues with the "Replace Ink Cartridge" message on your printer despite following various troubleshooting steps. Here are some additional steps you can take to resolve this issue:

1. Ensure Correct Cartridge Installation

  • Make sure the cartridge is inserted correctly and securely in its slot.
  • Double-check that you have installed the correct cartridge model for your printer.

2. Use Genuine HP Cartridges

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Third-party or refilled cartridges might not be recognized correctly by the printer.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and the printer.
  • Turn on the printer.

4. Clean the Cartridge Contacts Again

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Remove the cartridge and gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
  • Allow the contacts to dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.

5. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Visit the HP Support website to download and install any available firmware updates for your printer model.

6. Perform a Printer Self-Test

  • Some HP printers have a self-test or diagnostic mode that can help identify issues. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to perform a self-test.

7. Reset the Ink Cartridge System

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove all cartridges from the printer.
  • Close the cartridge access door.
  • Wait for the printer to prompt for the cartridges.
  • Open the cartridge access door again and reinsert the cartridges one by one.

8. Check for Obstructions

  • Ensure there are no obstructions or debris in the cartridge slot that could be interfering with the cartridge connection.

9. Replace the Cartridge Again

  • Try replacing the problematic cartridge with a new one, if possible. There might be a defect in the cartridge itself.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
