I gave up trying to clear the jam in my printer and bought a new one. It is the same model as my old one. I have a print toner plan and have a brand new laser cartridge in the box that was sent. Can I use it in the new printer? Do I have to change my plan to reflect the new serial number?

@SfGailj, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding replacing the printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Yes, you can use the unopened toner cartridge with your new HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe — as long as it’s the same model and the toner is compatible (usually the HP 134A or 134X, depending on your plan). Just snap it in and you’re good to go.
However, since your Instant Ink (toner) subscription is tied to the old printer’s serial number, you’ll need to update your plan to include your new printer. Here’s how:
Sign in at hpinstantink.com.
Remove the old printer from your account.
Add the new one using its serial number and claim code (found during setup).
Once that’s done, your plan and remaining pages will follow you to the new device like a loyal pup.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
