Hi @Samanthagraham,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8625 e-All-in-One printer is showing the "cartridges appear damaged" message even after trying multiple cartridges, here are a few troubleshooting steps to try:
1. Check Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the cartridges and inspect the copper-colored contacts for any dirt or ink buildup.
- Clean the contacts gently with a soft, lint-free cloth or a cotton swab lightly dampened with water. Let them dry completely before reinserting the cartridges.
2. Check for Ink Cartridge Compatibility:
- Make sure you're using genuine HP cartridges that are compatible with your printer. Even if the cartridges are new, using third-party or expired cartridges can trigger errors.
3. Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Unplug the printer from the power source.
- Wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- This can help reset the internal sensors and clear any temporary glitches.
4. Reinstall the Cartridges:
- Remove all cartridges and reinstall them one at a time, making sure each one clicks into place properly.
5. Perform a Printer Self-Test:
- Try printing a self-test page to verify if the printer is still able to recognize the cartridges. You can do this by accessing the printer settings through the control panel or the HP software on your computer.
6. Firmware Update:
- Ensure your printer has the latest firmware update, as outdated firmware may cause compatibility issues with cartridges.
- You can check for updates through the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app.
7. Inspect the Printhead:
- The printhead could be clogged or malfunctioning. Clean the printhead using the printer's built-in cleaning function (you can find this in the settings under "Tools" or "Maintenance").
- If cleaning doesn't work, the printhead might need to be replaced.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
