Small orange symbols (like the letter "d") appear along the length of the paper (8-1/2 x 11 in) and 0.5 in from the the border when ink extends to 0.5 in from the border.

It appears that only the cyan ink shows this symbol which coincides with the cyan toner showing error messages for low toner. Every place cyan toner shows up on a print, the symbol appears--and quite prominently. More than it looks from a scan. whodathunk!HP printer anomaly082.png

This issue seems to be because of low Cyan ink. I suggest you try replacing the Cyan Cartridge and that should work
