Hi @DavidWhitwell,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Print Head Installation:

  • Ensure that the new black print head is properly installed. Open the print head cover and double-check that the print head is correctly seated and all protective tapes have been removed.

Inspect for Any Blockages or Debris:

  • Look inside the printer to make sure there are no blockages or debris that could be causing the issue. Gently clean the area around the print head with a clean, lint-free cloth if necessary.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for firmware updates through the HP Smart App or by visiting the HP Software and Driver Downloads page and entering your printer model.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for at least 2 minutes before plugging it back in and turning it on.

Restore Factory Settings:

  • If you have already restored factory settings, double-check if you have followed all the necessary steps correctly. If needed, try the process again.

Run Print Head Cleaning:

  • Run the print head cleaning utility through your printer’s software or the HP Smart App to make sure the nozzles are not clogged.

I hope this helps.
