HP Smart Tank 6001 All-in-One

My printer won't print the magenta color.  It's a smarttank 6001 all-in-one printer.  Are there solutions anyone has found for a similar issue?

Hi @celamens

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It can be frustrating when a specific color stops printing.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot the magenta printing issue on your HP Smart Tank 6001:

1. Check Ink Levels

  • Ensure the magenta ink tank is filled to the appropriate level. Low ink can cause printing issues.

2. Clean the Printhead

  • Use the printer's control panel or the HP Smart app to run a printhead cleaning cycle. This can help clear any clogs in the magenta nozzle.

3. Align the Printhead

  • Go to Settings > Printer Maintenance > Align Printhead. Proper alignment can improve print quality.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Visit the HP Support website to check for and install the latest firmware updates for your printer. Firmware updates can resolve bugs and improve performance.

5. Inspect the Printhead

  • Remove the printhead and inspect it for any dried ink or debris. Gently clean it with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.

6. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • If you're using Windows, download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool to diagnose and fix common printing issues.

7. Use Genuine HP Ink

  • Ensure you're using genuine HP ink. Non-HP ink can sometimes cause compatibility issues.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
