Hi @Murraylee,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Try these steps:
Check Ink Cartridges
- Replace Non-HP Cartridges: Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges, as the printer may have issues with non-HP or refilled cartridges. Purchase from the HP Store.
- Check Ink Levels: Low ink levels can cause print quality issues. You can check the ink levels through your printer software or control panel. More help is available at Check HP printer ink or toner levels.
- Allow for Automatic Servicing: Rough handling during transport or installation can cause issues. Give the printer a few hours to complete its automatic servicing routine, then try printing again.
Replace Empty or Non-HP Cartridges
- Turn on the Printer: Press the Power button if the printer is not already on.
- Open Cartridge Door: Wait for the carriage to move to the center and become idle.
- Replace the Cartridge: Lightly press down on the cartridge to release it, remove it, and install a new one.
- Align the Cartridge: Follow on-screen prompts after replacing to align the cartridges.
Clean Cartridges Automatically
- Use HP Printer Assistant: Windows users can open this software to clean cartridges via the HP Toolbox.
- Open HP Printer Assistant > Printer Actions > Maintenance Tasks > Clean Ink Cartridges.
- For Mac Users: Use Printers & Scanners settings to open the Printer Utility. If HP Utility is not available, download it from 123.hp.com/setup.
I hope this helps.
