T he  Majenta ink cartridge won’t stay in the ink cartridge housing area. Each time I insert it, the cartridge flies out of the housing area!  I am at my wits end trying to get the printer to work!

Hi @MaryVeroFL,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like there might be a problem with the cartridge slot or the cartridge itself. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Check for Obstructions: Make sure there's nothing blocking the cartridge slot. Sometimes even a small piece of debris can prevent the cartridge from seating properly.
  • Inspect the Cartridge: Examine the Magenta ink cartridge closely to see if there are any visible defects or damage. If the cartridge is damaged, it may not properly engage with the printer.
  • Reinsert the Cartridge: Try inserting the Magenta cartridge again, making sure it's properly aligned with the slot and firmly seated. Sometimes it may not be inserted correctly, causing it to eject.
  • Clean the Cartridge and Slot: Dust and ink residue can accumulate over time, causing issues with cartridge insertion. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean both the cartridge and the cartridge slot carefully.
  • Reset the Printer: Sometimes resetting the printer can resolve minor issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again.
  • Update Printer Firmware: Check if there are any available firmware updates for your printer model. Updating the firmware can sometimes fix compatibility issues and improve performance.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
