HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw

I purchased two ink refill cartidges for my HP Neverstop 1001nw printer the first one worked great, but when I attempted to refill the ink using the second ink kit refill cartridge I couldn't get it to rotate 180 degrees no matter how hard I turn.  I waited until the ink levels dropped and tried again, so it must be a defective cartridge.

[Note on how I ultimately Resolved the problem: after I wrote up everything below to ask your help, I decided just leave the print cartridge refill port sitting open for a while to see if it would turn white as per one of the suggested solutions and to my surprise the Reload Status light had changed from amber and blinking to solid white. I inserted the new 143A refill kit and it worked fine. I just needed to be a little more patient to sit and watch a light turn back on as white. I hope this post will help someone else down the road avoid all the problems and lost time.]

Original problem: the "Reload Status light is amber and blinking rapidly." My toner level is very close to empty. I tried all the following which did not resolve the problem: (1) I reinstalled firmware updates, (2) reset factor defaults for the printer, (3) ordered a new 143A ink refill and attempted using a new refill kit, (4) inspected and cleaned and the imaging drum, (5) a test page and current printing is fine, (6) after still getting the same "Reload Status light is amber and blinking rapidly" I then waited to see if it would turn white and it just never turned on at all.

One suggested potential error from the user manual is that the previous Toner Reload Kit was not completely emptied into the printer and that I am to reinstall the previous Toner Reload Kit, and make sure that the toner is dispensed completely into the printer; however, I no longer have the previous Toner Reload Kit.  I attempted to reset all factor default settings to see if this would help it did not solve the problem.

This leaves me with the last suggested solution which is that "The printer cannot accept additional toner at this time either because it is busy, or the imaging drum is too close to the end of its useful life." My latest event log code was at page 9085 was 10.7000. I found that the 10.700X error code is a warning message and indicates that the toner cartridge warranty period is over. ..." Given I just ordered the 143AD with two new print cartridge yesterday from the Amazon. the order says the seller is Amazon and it product link is the HP Store on Amazon.  It is an HP cartridge . I can't see how it is past warranty.  The information on the cartridge is ..., W1143AD, E-PASS: CNE6W114360007D5G9Y4A1390, S/N: CNB1T49K4F. When I spoke with HP support yesterday for 1.5 hours they suggested I should consider ordering a new 144A imaging drum; however,  given the imaging drum is supposed to print about 20,000 pages and I am at only page 9083 and all my print jobs have been printing flawlessly I can't imagine I am at the end of life for my imaging drum.

@CorbinCoombs, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having trouble rotating the toner refill kit for your HP Neverstop Laser 1001nw printer. If the second refill cartridge won’t turn 180 degrees, here are a few steps to help troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Check Cartridge Alignment
Ensure the refill cartridge is properly aligned with the toner reload port. It should sit flush and securely in place before attempting to rotate.

Inspect the Cartridge
Look for any visible damage, warping, or obstructions on the cartridge nozzle or locking mechanism. A defective cartridge may prevent proper rotation.

Do Not Force It
If the cartridge resists turning, do not apply excessive force. This could damage the printer’s reload port or the cartridge itself.

Test with the First Cartridge (if available)
If the first cartridge is still available and not fully used, try inserting it again to confirm the printer’s reload mechanism is functioning properly.

Check for Firmware Updates
Make sure your printer firmware is up to date. You can do this via the HP Smart app or by visiting the HP Software and Drivers page.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
