HP ENVY 4500 e-All-in-One Printer

I have installed my new cartridges that were sent on the Instant ink scheme but I keep getting a message to say the black one must be replaced. I’ve tried cleaning it as instructed, but still same message. If I put the old one back in the message just thanks me for installing the new colour cartridge

Hi @Kayvee9 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've installed new cartridges as part of the Instant Ink scheme and are facing issues with the black cartridge, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the black cartridge is properly installed. Open the printer cover, remove the black cartridge, and then reinsert it securely.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridge and the printer. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the contacts. Make sure the cartridge is dry before reinserting it.

Reset the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in. Turn the printer on and check if the issue persists.

Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware. You can check for updates on the HP support website and follow the instructions to update your printer's firmware if necessary.

Restart the Instant Ink Service: If you are still having issues, you may need to restart the Instant Ink service. Sign in to your Instant Ink account on the HP website, navigate to your account settings, and look for an option to restart or refresh the Instant Ink service.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
