Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your printer is not printing in black even though the black ink tank shows full. Let’s go through a few steps to troubleshoot this issue.

Check for clogged printhead
Run a printhead cleaning from the printer’s control panel or software utility.
Dried or clogged ink often prevents black ink from printing even when the tank is full.

Perform a nozzle check
Use the printer software to print a nozzle check pattern.
This identifies whether the black ink is flowing correctly or blocked.

Shake or reseat the black ink tank
Remove the black ink tank and gently shake it side to side.
Reinsert it securely until it clicks into place.

Check print settings
Open the document you want to print and make sure it is set to print in black/monochrome and not grayscale with color only.
Also, ensure draft mode or economy mode is turned off.

Run a deep cleaning cycle
If the first cleaning didn’t work, perform a second or deep cleaning cycle.
This is especially useful if the printer hasn’t been used for some time.

Try another black ink tank
If cleaning does not resolve the issue, the black ink cartridge may be defective even if it shows full.
Replace with a new original HP tank to test.

Power reset the printer
Turn the printer off, unplug it for 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
This can reset the printer’s internal ink detection system.

I hope this helps.
