HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g
Microsoft Windows 11

I have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g. Last week I ran out of yellow ink, so I put in a new cartridge. The printer gives me an error message that says there is a problem with the printer or ink system". I have done everything I can find on how to fix this. I put the old ink cartridge back in and got same error. I changed out the cartridge housing (with an older one) and it gave the same error code. I used the HP Support Assistant (which I could not tell any difference between that and the HP print and scan). I need your help because I don't know where to go from here.

Thank you for any help you can provide,

J-Pac

Hi @J-Pac,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

Clean the cartridge contacts

Turn the printer on.

Open the door to access to the cartridges.

Wait until the carriage stops moving before you continue.

Push in on the front of the cartridge indicated in the error message, and then remove it.

Animation of replacing the cartridges

Wipe the electrical contact on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth.

Insert the cartridge into its color-coded slot until it snaps into place.

Repeat these steps for any other cartridges indicated in the error message.

Close the cartridge access door.
