hp 6970

My 6970 does not have an EWS option to disable cartridge protection .. how do I disable it so I can use my thrid party cartridges .. these worked last month and this happened as result of an firmware upgrade that was propagated when I bought a new computer and reloaded the software.

Hi @mws315

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see you are facing issues with ink cartridges.

HP printers are designed to best work with genuine HP ink cartridges.

You may use non HP cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems.

HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP supplies.

Replace the cartridges with HP cartridges to ensure the best print quality.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
