@Doug3920, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Cartridge Depleted Message for HP Magenta Cartridge!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If you are facing an issue where the HP printer continually displays a message that states the magenta cartridge is depleted despite installing new cartridges, here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure that both new magenta cartridges are compatible with your specific HP printer model. Compatibility issues can sometimes cause error messages.

Proper Installation:

  • Open the printer's cartridge door. Open the printer's window
  • Push the new cartridge inward to unlock and release it. Press the ink cartridge to unlock it
  • Insert the new cartridge into its slot. Make sure it is secured properly. Insert the new ink cartridge
  • Close the cartridge door. Close the printer's window

Turn Off and Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off your printer completely using the power button.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on again.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP support website and check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. Updating the firmware might resolve any compatibility issues with the new cartridges.

Reset Printer:

  • If the above steps do not work, perform a reset on the printer. Refer to your printer's user guide for detailed instructions on how to reset the printer to its factory settings.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
