Hi @Dennis012, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP DeskJet 2652 printer is printing black as light blue despite using a new HP 65 black cartridge, and color printing appears normal, try the following steps:
Check the Cartridge Installation
- Ensure the black cartridge is properly seated in the correct slot.
- Remove the cartridge, gently clean the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth and reinstall it.
Run a Printhead Cleaning
- Open HP Printer Assistant or HP Smart App.
- Go to Printer Maintenance → Clean Printhead.
- Perform this 2-3 times to clear any clogs.
Print a Test Page
- Open Printer Settings → Print a Test Page.
- Check if black ink appears properly.
Check for Grayscale or Color Mixing Issues
- Go to Printer Properties → Advanced Settings.
- Make sure Grayscale Printing is off.
- Try printing with only the black cartridge installed (some printers allow this as a test).
Manually Clean the Printhead
- Power off the printer and remove the cartridges.
- Lightly dampen a lint-free cloth with distilled water and gently clean the printhead area.
- Let it dry before reinstalling.
Try a Different Black Cartridge
- If possible, test with another HP 65 black cartridge. The current one may be defective.
Reset the Printer
- Power off the printer and unplug it from the wall for 5 minutes.
- Plug it back in and restart.
Update Printer Firmware & Drivers
- Download the latest drivers from HP Support.
- Install firmware updates if available.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
