Wanting to Print Black Only with no color cartridges

Recently cancelled my subscription to Instant Ink as it was costing me too much money. Upon cancellation, all three of the color cartridges and the black one will no longer work, as expected. Because the printer is rarely used, I only need printing in black, and not color, I decided to purchase a new replacement black cartridge only.

The problem is now I cannot print at all. The three color cartridges are the instant ink cartridges, which have been disabled, and if I remove them, I still cannot print in black. Is there a way to turn off color printing and just use the black cartridge, or am I stuck having to purchase the three color cartridges which I will not use.

No.

A printer must have a full set of working ink cartridges installed in the printer to work.

 

HP Instant Ink cartridges are disabled and no longer work, these must be returned to HP once you cancel the service, so you will have to replace all ink cartridges with standard cartridges from nearby store to resume printing:
