Hi @Janet3122,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're experiencing an issue with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer where the cartridges are not being recognized after replacing the print head. This can be frustrating, but there are a few steps you can try to resolve this:
Re-seat the Cartridges: Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed. Remove them one by one and re-insert them firmly into their slots.
Check for Protective Tape: Sometimes new cartridges come with a protective tape or cover that needs to be removed before installation. Make sure all protective coverings have been removed from the cartridges.
Clean Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and remove the cartridges. Clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with distilled water. Be gentle and avoid touching the nozzles.
Reset the Printer: Sometimes a reset can help resolve cartridge recognition issues. Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait a few minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on.
Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes firmware updates include fixes for cartridge recognition issues.
Check Print Head Installation: Double-check that the replacement print head is securely installed and properly aligned according to the printer's manual.
Try Different Cartridges: If possible, try using a different set of cartridges to see if the issue persists. This can help determine if the problem is with the cartridges themselves or with the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
