Hi @jbuchanan2025, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
"Cartridge has failed—Yellow ink"…  Oh dear, that sounds like Yellow 🟡Ink decided to stage a dramatic walkout right before the big art show!  It's like when your lead singer suddenly decides they've lost their voice… right before the concert!  Talk about a color crisis!  But fear not, we're about to become Ink Whisperers and coax Yellow back into the printing band!

Let’s try a few things to see if we can get Yellow feeling sunshine-y ☀️again and ready to lay down some vibrant hues.  Think of these steps as our "Operation: Yellow Ink Rescue Mission"!

Check the Cartridge:

  • Make sure the yellow ink cartridge is installed correctly and securely.
  • Check if the cartridge's protective tape or plastic seal has been completely removed.

Inspect the Contacts:

  • Remove the yellow ink cartridge and inspect the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer.
  • Clean the contacts with a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water. Be gentle to avoid damaging the contacts.

Try a Different Cartridge:

  • If you have a spare yellow cartridge or can borrow one, try replacing the current one to see if the issue is with the cartridge itself.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • This may reset the printer's internal systems and help resolve any issues with the cartridge detection.

Firmware Update:

  • Check if there's a firmware update available for the printer through HP Smart or the printer’s settings. Sometimes, updates can fix issues with cartridge recognition.

Reinstall the Cartridge:

  • Remove the cartridge, inspect it again for any issues, and reinstall it. Sometimes, reseating the cartridge can help with detection.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day. 😇
