When printing copies of pictures, the printed pictures are very dull and gray

When I print copies of pictures, the printed copies are very dull and gray.

How can I correct this problem to get sharper images?

Not sure whether you are using Copy or using Print to print saved images / photos.

Regardless, dull and gray-ish results are likely a print quality issue.

IF the problem is related to using Copy on (for example) old photos, the results have a lot to do with the original quality of the photos being copied.  Colors that are "so-so" on an old photo can become (usually) worse when using Copy to reproduce the original.

What to do?

First, of course, the printer has to be "at its best", that is, whatever you can do about the Print Quality must be completed.

Next.

IF you are trying to copy old photos (for example), consider using Scan software instead - you can edit the item being scanned and (sometimes, at least) improve the color/hue/density of the photo / image.

If you are printing photos / images you have saved, use photo viewing and print software to try and improve the image to be printed.  The simpler view-and-print software packages provide simple editing tools - more sophisticated tools provide more options to try and improve the image for printing.

What you can do - and choose to do - is impacted by the tools available (software for printing on your computer / device), the ability of the printer to do its job (print quality), and even your skill set (what you can do and / or are willing to try).
