Hi @Phil22153,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

If your HP ENVY Inspire 7920e All-In-One Printer is not validating your cartridges, it could be due to several reasons related to the cartridges themselves or the printer's internal settings.

Here’s how you can troubleshoot and resolve this issue:

1. Check Cartridge Compatibility and Installation:

Ensure Cartridge Compatibility: Make sure the cartridges you are using are compatible with the HP ENVY Inspire 7920e. Using incompatible or non-genuine cartridges can cause validation issues.

Reinstall Cartridges: Remove the cartridges from the printer and reinstall them properly to ensure they are securely seated.

2. Clean Cartridge Contacts:

Turn off the Printer: Press the power button to turn off the printer.

Remove Cartridges: Open the printer’s cartridge access door and carefully remove all cartridges.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges.
  • Ensure the contacts are dry before reinstalling the cartridges.

Reinstall Cartridges: Insert the cartridges back into their respective slots and close the cartridge access door securely.

3. Reset the Printer:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and from the power outlet.
  • Wait for about 1-2 minutes to allow any residual power to dissipate.
  • Plug the power cord back into the printer and the power outlet.
  • Turn on the printer by pressing the power button.

Reset the Printer:

  • If the issue persists, perform a reset of the printer:
    • Press the back button ( ) and the cancel button (X) simultaneously for 5 seconds.
    • Release the buttons.

Kindly check the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Phil22153,

Please find the next set of steps below.

4. Update Printer Firmware:

  1. Check for Firmware Updates:
    • Go to the HP Support website.
    • Enter your printer model (HP ENVY Inspire 7920e) and navigate to the Downloads or Drivers section.
    • Download and install any available firmware updates for your printer model.

5. Check Ink Levels and Replace Cartridges if Necessary:

Check Ink Levels:

  • Use the printer’s control panel or HP Smart app to check the ink levels in your cartridges.
  • Replace cartridges that are low on ink or empty.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges:

  • Ensure you are using genuine HP cartridges that are specifically designed for your printer model. Non-genuine cartridges may not be recognized or may cause validation issues.

If you have tried the above steps and your HP ENVY Inspire 7920e printer still does not validate the cartridges, it may indicate a hardware issue with the printer. Contact HP Support for further assistance,

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
