Wont print black ink

macOS 10.12 Sierra

My quality report is missing the black ink. I just replaced all my cartridges and they should be working but the black one isn't. I cleaned the printer-head, tried changing the photo settings to glossy, and cleaned the vent on the cartridge. Is it possible I have a faulty cartridge?! Even though I just bought it a month ago? Can I get a replacement for free? Does anyone have any help

I appreciate your efforts in trying to resolve this issue by performing the necessary troubleshooting steps. Have you tried using an alternate black ink cartridge to conclude the issue?

This could be an issue with the printhead of the printer or the black ink cartridge.

 

Make sure you have tried the steps mentioned in this document - Black Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

 

Update the printer firmware

Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.

Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.

 

If the issue persists, please reach out to the HP Technical Support team in your region regarding the replacement options. 

You may create a case on the website to obtain a case number if required. Kindly watch this video to know how.

I have a Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Series printer.  It has printed well since I bought it a few years ago.  It stopped printing black a couple of days ago.  I tried cleaning the cartridges, aligning the printer, installed new cartridges, cleaned the contacts , the manual, the virtual assistant etc. but it won't print black.  At 1 point, I got an error message, 0xc19a0013, that there is a problem w the printer or ink system

 

Here is the problem. I bought new ink cartridges.  If you touch the bottom of the new ink cartridges, your finger turns blue, magenta, yellow or black, so the cartridges work.  When I opened up the printer and looked at the openings where the cartridges fit, the blue, magenta and yellow openings are stained blue, magenta or yellow but the black opening, which should be black, is silver, ie very clean, because no black ink is moving from the new black ink cartridge into the printer even thought it clicked into place and the ink level on the printer and on my computer shows a full level of black ink.
