Hi @JMPrints

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is not producing yellow and light yellow colors even though the ink slots are full, and you've already tried cleaning the print heads, here are some additional steps to troubleshoot the issue:

Step 1: Check for Clogs in the Nozzles

Run a Nozzle Check:

  • Print a nozzle check pattern from your printer's maintenance menu. This will help you identify if the yellow nozzles are clogged.

Clean the Print Head:

  • If the nozzle check shows missing yellow lines, run the print head cleaning cycle again. This option is usually found in the printer's maintenance settings.

Step 2: Perform Deep Cleaning

  1. Access Printer Maintenance:
    • Go to your printer’s settings and look for maintenance or tools.
  2. Select Deep Cleaning:
    • If available, choose the deep cleaning option for the print head. This is more thorough than the standard cleaning.

Step 3: Check Ink Cartridges

  1. Reinstall Cartridges:
    • Remove the yellow and light yellow cartridges, and then reinstall them to ensure they are seated correctly.
  2. Inspect for Damage:
    • Check the cartridges for any signs of damage or leaks. Sometimes, a cartridge may look full but could be defective.

Step 4: Use Genuine Cartridges

  1. Ensure Authenticity:
    • If you are using third-party ink cartridges, consider switching to genuine HP cartridges, as compatibility issues can cause print quality problems.

Step 5: Check Printer Settings

  1. Verify Color Settings:
    • Ensure that your printer settings are set to print in color. Check if any settings could be forcing it to use less color.

Step 6: Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

Check for Updates:

  • Visit the HP website to ensure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer model.

Reinstall Printer:

  • If you haven’t already, remove and reinstall the printer in your system’s settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
