@miked03, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your HP DeskJet!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP DeskJet 4152e All-in-One Printer is only printing every other line after replacing the black ink cartridge, try these troubleshooting steps:

1. Check the Ink Cartridge Installation

  • Make sure the black ink cartridge is installed correctly.
  • Remove the cartridge, clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth, and reinsert it securely.

2. Run Print Head Cleaning

  • On the printer's control panel, go to Settings > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • If using HP Smart:
    1. Open HP Smart on your computer.
    2. Go to Printer Settings > Print Quality Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • Repeat the process if needed.

3. Align the Printhead

  • From the printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Tools > Align Printhead.
  • Print an alignment page and follow the instructions.

4. Check Ink Levels

  • Ensure the new cartridge isn’t low on ink. Even though it’s new, it might be defective.
  • If low, try replacing it.

5. Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to HP Support and check for firmware updates for your printer model.
  • Install updates if available.

6. Try a Different Print Mode

  • If printing from a computer, change the print quality to Best instead of Draft or Normal.
  • Go to Printer Preferences > Print Quality and adjust the settings.

7. Use Genuine HP Cartridges

  • Ensure you are using authentic HP ink cartridges, as non-HP or refilled cartridges may cause printing issues.

8. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it for 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in and restart.

Hope these steps help!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
