Hi @Henry-8,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
We understand you're experiencing an issue where black ink is not printing, despite having sufficient ink and completing all cleaning cycles on your HP DeskJet 2710e All-in-One Printer. We're here to help you get this resolved.
1. Check Ink Cartridge Venting
Sometimes, blocked vents can prevent ink from flowing:
- Remove the black ink cartridge from the printer.
- Examine the top of the cartridge (where the label is).
- Look for the small vent (tiny slit).
- If it’s clogged with adhesive or debris, gently clean it with a pin or a soft cloth.
- Reinstall the cartridge securely.
2. Print a Diagnostic Test Page
Let’s confirm if the black ink is attempting to print:
- On your printer control panel:
- Press the Information button (i) and the Cancel button (X) together.
- A printer status report will print.
- Check whether any black ink appears on the page.
If black is missing, the issue is confirmed to be with the ink flow or the cartridge itself.
3. Try a Different Black Cartridge
If available, replace the black cartridge with a new genuine HP 305 or 305XL cartridge (depending on your region). The cartridge may be defective even if it shows as full.
Please ensure you're using original HP ink – third-party or refilled cartridges may cause issues with print quality or detection
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
