Hi @Rock1969,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand there may be an issue with the scanner or the document feeder of your HP OfficeJet Pro 8720. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

  • Clean the scanner glass: Sometimes, dirt or debris on the scanner glass can cause lines or streaks on copied documents. Make sure to clean the glass thoroughly with a soft, lint-free cloth.
  • Inspect the document feeder: If you're using the document feeder to copy multiple pages, check for any obstructions or debris that may be causing the issue. Clean the rollers and the feeder mechanism.
  • Check the original document: If the original document you're copying has any marks or smudges, they may be picked up by the scanner and appear as lines on the copied document. Try copying a different document to see if the issue persists.
  • Update printer drivers: Ensure that your printer drivers are up-to-date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause printing or copying issues.  Software and Drivers for HP OfficeJet Pro 8720 All-in-One Printer series
  • Perform a printer reset: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on again. This can sometimes resolve minor issues with the printer's hardware.

I hope this helps.
