Hi @bmike101,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-In-One Printer might have a clogged printhead or low ink levels. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.
Check Ink Levels
- Control Panel: On the printer's control panel, go to the Ink Levels menu to check if any of the cartridges are low or empty.
- HP Smart App: You can also use the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device to check ink levels.
Align the Printhead
- Control Panel: From the printer's control panel, navigate to the setup or maintenance menu.
- Printhead Alignment: Select the option for printhead alignment and follow the on-screen instructions.
Clean the Printhead
- Control Panel: Navigate to the printer's control panel and find the cleaning options (usually under setup or maintenance).
- Clean Printhead: Choose the option to clean the printhead. The printer will perform a cleaning cycle, which may take a few minutes.
Print a Test Page
- Control Panel: From the printer's control panel, print a test page to see if the issue persists.
- Check Results: Examine the test page for any blank lines. If the lines are still present, you may need to perform a deeper cleaning.
Perform a Second-Level Clean
- Control Panel: If the initial cleaning didn’t work, navigate to the maintenance menu again.
- Second-Level Clean: Select the option for a more thorough cleaning cycle. This process may use more ink but can resolve deeper clogs.

Inspect and Replace Cartridges
- Open Printer: Carefully open the printer and inspect the cartridges.
- Replace if Necessary: If any cartridges are damaged or empty, replace them with new ones.
- Reinsert Cartridges: Make sure the cartridges are properly seated in their slots.
Update Printer Firmware
- HP Support: Go to the HP Support website and check if there is any firmware update available for your printer model.
- Update Firmware: Follow the instructions to download and install the latest firmware.
Check for Driver Updates
- HP Support: Visit the HP Support website and look for the latest drivers for your printer.
- Update Drivers: Download and install the latest drivers to ensure optimal performance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
