Hi @johnspac ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP ENVY 5660 e-All-in-One Printer is not printing blue color despite having a new cartridge and updated software, follow these troubleshooting steps:

1. Verify the Cartridge Installation

  • Ensure the new color cartridge is securely installed in its slot.
  • Check if the protective plastic tape on the cartridge has been fully removed.

2. Run a Print Quality Report

  • On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Tools > Print Quality Report.
  • Review the report to identify missing or faded colors.

3. Align the Printhead

  • Go to Setup > Tools > Align Printer and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. Perform a Power Reset

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it, and wait 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in, turn it on, and try printing again.

5. Inspect the Cartridge and Nozzles

  • Remove the color cartridge and inspect the nozzles for clogs or dried ink.
  • Gently clean the nozzles with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.

6. Test with Another Cartridge

  • If possible, replace the current color cartridge with another new or known-working cartridge to rule out a cartridge defect.

7. Clean the Printhead Thoroughly

  • On the printer control panel, navigate to Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  • If cleaning has been performed three times with no improvement, avoid excessive cleaning as it can deplete ink.

8. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest firmware for your printer.
  • Install it according to the instructions provided.

9. Reset Printer Settings

  • Reset the printer to its factory settings.
    • Navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore Factory Defaults.

10. Check Print Settings

  • In your print dialog box, ensure the print mode is set to Color and not Grayscale or Black and White

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
