@Handyadvan, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your Printing and Copying Issues in Color for HP OfficeJet Pro 7740!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 is unable to print or copy in color, follow these steps to diagnose and resolve the issue:
Check for Issues with the Ink Cartridges
- Check Ink Levels: On the printer control panel, swipe down on the touchscreen to open the Dashboard, touch the Ink Level Indicator icon, and check the ink levels.
- Replace Low or Empty Cartridges: If ink levels are low or cartridges are empty, replace them with genuine HP cartridges. Non-HP or refilled cartridges may cause print quality issues.
- Handling and Installation: Rough handling during transport or installation can result in issues. Wait a few hours for automatic servicing and retry.
Clean the Printhead
- Load Paper: Load plain white paper into the tray.
- Access Printhead Cleaning: On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, touch the Setup icon, touch Printer Maintenance, then touch Clean Printhead.
Check Print Settings
- Paper Type and Condition: Ensure the paper used is appropriate and in good condition. For best results with graphics, use paper with ColorLok technology, and for photos, use HP Advanced Photo Paper.
- Quality Settings: From the application you are printing from, ensure the settings for color, paper type, size, and quality are correct.
Align the Printhead
- Access Alignment Tool: On the printer control panel, swipe down on the touchscreen to open the Dashboard, touch the Setup icon, then touch Printer Maintenance, and touch Align Printhead.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
