Hello! My printer no longer recognizes any black cartridges, even the originals. It says the black cartridge is incompatible, but it used to work fine, and now only the color cartridge works. What can I do? Best regards.

@OLIETE19, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your printer might be having trouble recognizing the black cartridge due to a firmware issue, dirty contacts, or a problem with the cartridge itself. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:
Clean the Cartridge and Printer Contacts
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the black cartridge and gently clean the electrical contacts with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
- Do the same for the printer's cartridge contacts where the black cartridge sits.
- Let them dry completely before reinserting the cartridge.
Reset the Printer
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for 2-3 minutes.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
- Reinstall the black cartridge and check if it is recognized.
Try a Different Black Cartridge
If possible, test with another black cartridge, preferably a new original one, to determine whether the issue is with the cartridge or the printer.
Update the Firmware
- Check the printer settings or the HP website for available firmware updates.
Check for HP Cartridge Protection
- If your printer is connected to HP Smart or Instant Ink, check if cartridge protection is enabled. If so, it may prevent the use of refilled or non-original cartridges.
- Disable this feature via the HP software on your PC.
Reinstall Printer Drivers
- Uninstall and reinstall the printer drivers from the HP Support website.
- Restart your computer and try printing again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
