HP OfficeJet Pro 8710, number D9L18A. I changed the K (black ink) cartridge. The printer presents a message "Genuine HP Cartridge Installed" and immediately presents a message "Supply System Problem" although the cartridge in new and full.
AND then, when I try to register to printer - your system keeps rejecting it as an illegal number.

Hi @ahz10,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you’re dealing with a couple of different issues. Here’s how you can address them:
Supply System Problem
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Make sure the black ink cartridge is properly installed. Remove and reinsert it to ensure it’s seated correctly.
Clean Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Remove the black cartridge and gently clean the contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth.
Reset the Printer:
- With the printer turned on, unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn the printer on.
Update Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer’s firmware is up-to-date. Check HP's website for the latest firmware and instructions on how to update it.
Try a Different Cartridge:
- If possible, try using another genuine HP black ink cartridge to rule out the possibility of a faulty cartridge.
