I have an error message stating cartridges blocked for containing non-HP chip.  I have been using this printer and cartridges for over a month.  I did have to unplug and move the printer in my office then it started with this message.  I have tried shutting it off and back on but it still comes up?

Hi @PalmAging ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the error message with your HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw printer is related to the cartridges being detected as having non-HP chips. This issue might have been triggered by the movement and power cycle of the printer.

Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer completely, unplug it from the power source, wait for a couple of minutes, and then plug it back in. After that, turn the printer back on and see if the error message persists.

Reinstall Cartridges: Remove all the cartridges from the printer carefully. Inspect them to ensure that they are indeed HP cartridges and properly seated. Then, reinsert them firmly into their respective slots.

Clean Cartridge Contacts: Sometimes, dust or debris may accumulate on the cartridge contacts or inside the printer. Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridges with a clean, lint-free cloth. Also, inspect the contacts inside the printer where the cartridges make contact and clean them if necessary.

Check for Updates: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Sometimes, firmware updates can resolve compatibility issues with cartridges. You can check for updates through the printer's control panel or HP's official website.HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw Software and Driver
