HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e All-in-One Printer

The printer is 18 months old. Two days ago I removed the four nearly depleted cartridges and tried to install four new ones. I couldn't get the cartridges to insert. I drained the power cord and the printer of charge, but this didn't help. A week earlier, when scanning stopped, I had the 'Geek Squad" of Best Buy, working remotely, install updated drivers.

Does the ink cartridge number match the new ones to the cartridge number on depleted ones?

The cartridges are the same 962s. Not only that, I cannot reinsert the depleted cartridges.
