Hi @Sterman,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To clean the printhead on your HP ENVY Photo 7855 printer, you can either use the printer's built-in cleaning function or manually clean the printhead if necessary. Here's how to do both.

Use Printer's Built-in Tool

  1. Turn on the printer and ensure it has paper loaded in the input tray.
  2. On the printer control panel, tap the Setup icon (gear icon).
  3. Select Tools.
  4. Select Clean Printhead.

The printer will perform the cleaning process. Afterward, a test page will print. You can repeat this process if the quality is still poor.

Manually Clean the Printhead

If the automatic method doesn't resolve the issue, you can try manually cleaning the printhead. Here's how.

Materials Needed:

  • Distilled water
  • Lint-free cloth or cotton swabs

Steps:

  1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Open the printer’s cartridge access door and remove the ink cartridges.
  3. Locate the printhead inside the printer.
  4. Dampen the lint-free cloth or cotton swab with distilled water.
  5. Gently clean the nozzles and contacts on the printhead. Be careful not to touch the electrical contacts or nozzles directly with your fingers.
  6. Allow the printhead to air dry for a few minutes.
  7. Reinsert the ink cartridges and close the access door.
  8. Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Test the printer again to see if the cleaning improved the print quality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
