I have done everything to try to get the printer to print with the cyan color ink. Sent me replacement cartridges and all I am doing is wasting ink trying to clean print head per the instructions.  This is the second or third time I have gone through this. The last message I received states to "try replacing the printhead." Okay, how is that done?

Hi @LynneS58,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Replacing the printhead on an HP printer is generally a straightforward process, but it can vary slightly depending on the specific model. Here's a general guide that should help you.

  • Turn on the Printer: Ensure that your printer is turned on before you start the process.
  • Open the Cartridge Access Door: Open the cartridge access door. This is usually located on the front of the printer. Refer to your printer's manual for the specific location.
  • Wait for Cartridges to Move to the Center: Wait for the ink cartridges to move to the center of the printer. This allows you better access to the printhead.
  • Remove Cartridges: Carefully remove the ink cartridges from their slots. You may need to refer to your printer's manual for guidance on cartridge removal for your specific model.
  • Locate the Printhead: The printhead is the part that the cartridges sit in. It is usually labeled and positioned near where the cartridges go. There may be a latch or release mechanism holding it in place.
  • Remove the Printhead: Depending on your printer model, there might be a latch or release button to unlock the printhead. Once unlocked, gently lift the printhead out of its slot.
  • Install the New Printhead: If you have a replacement printhead, carefully insert it into the slot. Make sure it is securely in place.
  • Lock the Printhead: If there's a latch or locking mechanism, secure the printhead in place.
  • Reinstall Cartridges: Put the ink cartridges back into their respective slots.
  • Close the Cartridge Access Door: Close the cartridge access door securely.
  • Align the Printhead (if required): Some printers may prompt you to align the printhead after replacement. If so, follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Print a Test Page: Once the printhead is replaced, print a test page to check if the issue is resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
