HP DeskJet 3755 All-in-One Printer

When I try to run clean printheads, I get an error message that says new HP print cartridges installed, please fix and retry. I don't understand why new cartridges is an error. I removed and reinstalled them, no help. And they are not new - I've printed with them before. I'm trying to fix a problem with the printer suddenly not printing black (thought grey works on test page), I redownloaded firmware, and the virtual help said to try clean printheads next.

I'm really bummed that I can't get live help.

Hi @MeAMZ,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP DeskJet 3755 All-In-One Printer. error message 'new cartridge installed'  Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

May I know

Do you see any lights blinking on the control panel of the printer?

Have you observed any error codes on the display? Eg E0 or anything as such

Let's perform a power drain:

  • With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Remove USB cable, if present.
  • Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
  • Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
  • Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle

Update the printer firmware

Well after messing around by myself before any replies came, and updating firmware etc, I read through the online document and what finally fixed the black not printing was changing the ink cartridge. At least the old one was mostly used up so I didn't have to waste a lot of ink.

I found some of your procedures myself, but the only thing that fixed the black printing was changing the ink cartridge. The aligning and cleaning in HP Smart still aren't working, but the printing issue is fixed.
