Getting cartridge insert error when replacing black cartridge in the correct slot  I also re-inserted the used cart and the same error message came up. The carts are HP.  Would like to know if this is a circuit board caused error or something else

Hi @theJoshman,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you're experiencing a cartridge insert error with your HP OfficeJet 3830 All-In-One Printer, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take to identify and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the new black cartridge is compatible with your HP OfficeJet 3830. HP printers often require specific cartridges, and using incompatible ones may result in errors. Verify that you are using the correct cartridge model for your printer.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and remove the new black cartridge. Examine the cartridge contacts for any dirt or residue. Gently clean the contacts with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab. Make sure not to touch the nozzles or copper-colored contacts.

Reinstall the Cartridge: Carefully reinstall the black cartridge into the correct slot. Ensure it is securely and correctly seated. Close the cartridge access door and turn on the printer.

Update Printer Firmware: Check if there is any available firmware update for your printer on the HP website. Updated firmware may include bug fixes or improvements that could resolve the cartridge insertion error.

Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, and then plug it back in. Turn on the printer and check if the error persists.

Perform a Hard Reset: If the issue persists, perform a hard reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it from the power source, and holding the power button down for at least 15 seconds. Plug the printer back in, turn it on, and check if the error is resolved.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.-
