My HP Envy Photo 7855 [product # K7R96A and serial # Edited] has poor print quality.  Text is blurry, fuzzy and truncated at the right margin and also partial lines [cutting off the bottom third of all the characters.  Additionally, the print is alternating between bold and light grey.  I have already tried cleaning with a dust rag and reseating the ink cartridges.  Printer status shows both cartridges are full and installed in the correct slots.

@smrink, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
We are sorry to hear about the issue you are facing with your printer. Please try these steps,

Run Printhead Cleaning from Printer Menu

You've already cleaned externally, but internal cleaning helps clear clogged nozzles.

  1. On the printer screen, go to Setup > Tools > Clean Printhead.
  2. Print the test page and check the quality.
  3. If needed, run it up to 2–3 times, allowing it to rest between cycles.

Align the Printhead

Misalignment can cause fuzzy and truncated text, especially along the right side.

  1. On the printer, go to Setup > Tools > Align Printer.
  2. Follow the on-screen prompts.
  3. The printer will print an alignment page and may ask you to place it on the scanner.

Check the Paper Feed Path

Paper not feeding straight can cause the truncation and misalignment you're seeing.

  1. Remove the paper stack.
  2. Check for debris, paper dust, or bits of torn paper inside the input tray and rear access panel.
  3. Use a flashlight to look inside if needed.
  4. Re-insert the paper and try printing again.

Print a Diagnostic Print Quality Report

This report shows nozzle or ink issues clearly.

  1. On the printer screen, go to Setup > Tools > Print Quality Report.
  2. Post a photo of the report here if you'd like me to interpret it.

Inspect Ink Cartridges and Vent Holes

Remove each cartridge and:

  1. Check that the plastic tape was removed from the ink nozzle.
  2. Look at the vent on top (a small slit)—if it’s clogged, clean gently with a lint-free cloth or pin.
  3. Reinsert and snap firmly into place.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
