I have a hp designjet 200 c3180A plotter.

The problem is that the ink cartridges HP 26  51626A are no longer avaialble as a genuine part.

I have tried so called compatible cartridges but the plotter rejects them. I believe there is a fix which is to disable the "cartridge protection". There is no explanation as to actually how to do this, only if the plotter has a screen menu. Mine only has buttons and no screen display.

My plotter will accept and old empty original cartridge but if i replace the old with the compatible it rejects it. I think HP should allow users with older plotters that require a chipped cartridge to be able to use generics and to supply a fix for this problem.

Any advise will be of help
