hi - i have an envy photo 7855 and out of nowhere the color AND black and white cartridge stopped working when printing. Both are new, genuine HP cartridges. Should i ditch this printer? Or is there a fix? I tried cleaning, aligning. Neither worked.

Hi @ms7070,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you've already tried cleaning and aligning the cartridges without success, there are a few additional steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue before deciding to ditch the printer.

  • Check Cartridge Installation: Ensure that the cartridges are properly installed. Remove them and reinsert them carefully to make sure they are securely in place.
  • Update Firmware/Drivers: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer on the HP website. Updating the printer's firmware or drivers might resolve compatibility issues.
  • Reset Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for a few minutes, and then plug it back in. This can sometimes help in resolving temporary glitches.
  • Check for Software Issues: Make sure that the settings in your printing software are configured correctly. Ensure that the correct printer and paper settings are selected.
  • Print a Test Page: Use the printer's control panel to print a test page. This can help you identify if the issue is with the printer itself or if it's a software-related problem.
  • Check for Error Messages: Check if there are any error messages on the printer's display or on your computer. These messages can provide clues about the nature of the problem.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: Perform a hard reset by turning off the printer, unplugging it, and holding down the power button for 15-30 seconds. This can sometimes resolve power-related issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
