I don't know what happened, but my printer was printing fine then a few days later I tried printing and it won't print in black.  I tried another printer in my home and wierdly enough, it wouldn't do black either.  same computer different printer.  That one is an hp envy pro 6400.  It almost looks like a problem in my software, but I can't figure it out.  I have tried 3 different black print cartriges in the officejet.  The envy, I don't know the first thing about using, as it belonged to my deceased father.  He always complained it didn't work for him.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Are you able to copy in black? This would rule out a hardware issue with the Printer.

Try a firmware update:https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16

Let me know if this helps.
