@NL38, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding How to Resolve Faded Color Prints for HP Smart Tank 580!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If you are facing faded color prints on your HP Smart Tank 580 and the yellow color is reported missing despite being visible from the outside, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
1. Check Ink Levels and Fill Ink Tanks
- Ensure your ink tanks are actually filled with ink and the ink levels are above the minimum required.
2. Check the Paper, Print Settings, and Quality of the File Being Printed
- Paper Type and Condition: Ensure the paper used is suitable for your print job and in good condition.
- Print Job Settings: Verify color, paper type, paper size, and quality settings from the application you are printing from.
- Quality of the Document or Photo: Improve brightness, contrast, and other appearance settings if needed.
3. Clean the Ink Smears Using HP Smart App
Use the HP Smart app to clean the printhead contacts.
- Open the HP Smart app and select your printer.
- Navigate to Tools, then to Alignment & Maintenance.
- Select Clean Ink Smear.
4. Print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page
To help diagnose the issue, you can print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page:
- On the printer control panel, press and hold the Information button for five seconds.
- Check for missing colors, fading, and white lines.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
