Hi @Boo-75,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP OfficeJet 4650 isn't printing color after a Windows 11 upgrade, and reinstalling the printer hasn’t fixed it, try the following steps.
Check Printer Settings:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
- Select your HP OfficeJet 4650 and click Manage.
- Click Printing preferences and ensure the color option is selected (if available). Sometimes the settings might default to grayscale after updates.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Enter your printer model and download the latest drivers for Windows 11.
- Install the drivers and see if this resolves the issue.
Run the HP Print and Scan Doctor:
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor.
- This tool can diagnose and fix common printing problems.
Check Ink Levels:
- Ensure that your color ink cartridges are not empty. Sometimes low ink can affect color printing.
- If you have recently replaced the cartridges, make sure they are properly installed.
Printer Firmware Update:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support site.
- Follow the instructions to update the firmware.
Set Default Printer:
- Ensure that the OfficeJet 4650 is set as the default printer.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, click on your printer, and select Set as default.
Check Print Queue:
- Ensure there are no stuck print jobs in the queue that might be affecting the printer.
- Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, select your printer, and click Open queue. Cancel any pending jobs and try printing again.
Check Print Quality Settings:
- Open a document and try printing from an application like Word or Paint. Check the print settings within the application to see if color options are available.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
