@VeronicaEvans, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 Printing Issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 is not printing after changing the black ink cartridge, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure the new black ink cartridge is installed correctly. Remove and reinstall it if necessary.
  • Make sure there is no protective tape on the cartridge.

Align the Printhead:

  • From the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Align Printer.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the alignment process.

Cleaning the Printhead:

  • Clean the printhead to remove any clogs or blockages. This can typically be done via the printer’s maintenance menu.
  • From the printer’s control panel, go to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.

Perform a Test Print:

  • Try printing a test page from the printer’s control panel to see if it can print correctly.
  • Go to Setup > Printer Reports > Print Quality Report.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure the printer’s firmware is up to date. Firmware updates can fix issues related to ink cartridges.
  • You can update the firmware via the HP Smart App or printer software installed on your computer.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Check the printer's display for any error messages or alerts and follow the recommended actions.

Restart Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for 60 seconds, and then turn it back on.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
