HP Deskjet 1512 All-in-One Printer

There are no error messages. The page that prints are only 1/4 to 1/3 of the page. Test page prints fine. I'm trying to get it to work with a new windows 11 computer, it worked fine with the old computer.

Hi @Ken39612,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it must be to have your printer only printing part of the page, especially when the test page prints fine. Let’s go through some steps to fix this issue.

Possible Causes:

  • Driver or Compatibility Issues – Since you’re using a new Windows 11 computer, an outdated or incorrect driver could be causing the problem.
  • Print Settings Misconfiguration – Paper size, scaling, or print quality settings might not be set correctly.
  • Software or Application Issues – If this happens across different apps, the issue might be with the system or printer driver itself.

Let us try these troubleshooting steps and check if this fixes the issue.

1. Check and Update Printer Drivers

Uninstall the old driver:

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP DeskJet 1512 and select Remove Device.
  • Go to Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall a program, find any HP printer software, and uninstall it.

Download and install the latest driver:

  • Go to the HP Support Website.
  • Search for HP DeskJet 1512 and download the latest Windows 11 drivers.
  • Install the driver and restart your computer.

2. Check Print Settings

  1. When printing a document, click File > Print and then:
    • Ensure Paper Size matches the loaded paper.
    • Set Scaling to Fit to Page or 100%.
    • Try setting the print quality to Normal or Best instead of Draft.
  2. Try printing from a different application (e.g., Word, Notepad, or PDF viewer).

3. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  • It will automatically detect and fix printing issues.

4. Perform a Hard Reset on the Printer

  1. With the printer powered on, unplug the power cable from the back.
  2. Wait for 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cable back in and turn the printer on.
  4. Try printing again.

5. Try a Different Connection Method

  • If using USB, try a different USB port on your computer.
  • If using Wi-Fi, reconnect the printer to the network.

After following these steps, your printer should print full pages again. Let me know if you need more help!

Take care and have a good day.
