Hi @eokusche ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your HP ENVY Photo 7855 All-In-One Printer indicates that the color cartridge is not communicating with the printer, and resetting hasn't helped, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Step-by-Step Troubleshooting
Check Cartridge Compatibility:
- Ensure the cartridge you are using is compatible with the HP ENVY Photo 7855. The compatible cartridges are typically HP 64 or HP 64XL for both black and color.
Inspect and Clean the Cartridge:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Open the ink cartridge access door and remove the problematic color cartridge.
- Check for any visible damage or leaks.
- Clean the copper contacts on the cartridge with a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water. Avoid touching the nozzles.
- Let the cartridge dry for a few minutes before reinserting it.
Clean the Printer Contacts:
- Using the same lint-free cloth, clean the contacts inside the printer where the cartridge is inserted.
- Make sure there is no debris or ink residue on the contacts.
Reinsert the Cartridge:
- Reinsert the cleaned cartridge firmly into the appropriate slot.
- Close the ink cartridge access door and plug the printer back in.
- Turn on the printer and check if the error message persists.
Reset the Printer:
- While the printer is on, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
- Wait at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet and then into the printer.
- Turn the printer on and check for the error message.
Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Release the power button and turn the printer back on.
Replace the Cartridge:
- If the issue persists, try using a new HP original color cartridge. Sometimes, cartridges can be faulty or incompatible even if they are new.
