@CEB2256, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the ink carriage on your HP OfficeJet 8015e is stuck to the right and won’t move, here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

Power Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet (avoid surge protectors).
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and turn it on.

Check for Obstructions

  • Open the printer access door to view the ink carriage.
  • Look for any paper jams, debris, or packing materials that might be blocking the carriage.
  • Gently remove any obstructions you find.

Manually Move the Carriage

  • With the printer off and unplugged, try gently moving the carriage to the center.
  • If it’s stuck, do not force it—this could damage the mechanism.
  • Sometimes a small piece of paper or dried ink can block the carriage path.

Clean the Carriage Path

  • Use a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water to clean the carriage path.
  • Make sure the path is dry before turning the printer back on.

Check the Carriage Lock Mechanism

  • Some users have reported a gray roller bar with a black tab on the right side that can lock the carriage.
  • If this tab is pointed upwards, it might be locking the carriage. Try gently adjusting it downward.

Reinstall Ink Cartridges

  • Remove and reinsert the ink cartridges to ensure they are seated properly.

Update Firmware

  • If the printer starts working again, check for firmware updates via the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
