Hi @Kevin1551,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If you have already tried the recommended fixes from HP and are still experiencing issues with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer indicating that one or more cartridges are damaged or empty even after inserting brand new ones, you may want to consider the following additional troubleshooting steps.

  • Inspect Cartridges: Double-check that you have removed any protective tape or plastic covering from the new cartridges. Sometimes, this can be overlooked and cause issues.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Turn off the printer and open the cartridge access door. Remove the cartridges and clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water. Make sure they are dry before reinserting the cartridges.
  • Update Firmware/Drivers: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware and drivers installed. You can visit the official HP website and download the latest firmware and drivers for your specific printer model.
  • Reset Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes reset the printer and resolve cartridge-related issues.
  • Perform a Hard Reset: If the issue persists, perform a hard reset by disconnecting all cables from the printer, including the power cord, for about 10 minutes. Reconnect the cables and turn on the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
