I have HP Officejet Pro 6968 printer and I just replaced all 4 ink cartridges (902XL). The color cartridges are working but the black is not. There was some black print on the first page I printed but then no black ink at all on the following pages. I am not getting any error messages. It shows on the screen that all cartridges are full.

Hi @Dianne_60- ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6968 printer. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the black ink cartridge problem:
Check Cartridge Installation: Make sure the black cartridge is installed correctly. Remove it and reseat it firmly in its slot. Sometimes, a cartridge might not be making proper contact.
Clean the Printhead: Clogged printheads can lead to printing issues. You can use the printer's built-in cleaning feature:
- Go to the printer's control panel.
- Navigate to Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead.
- Follow the prompts to complete the cleaning process. You may need to run this a couple of times.
Perform a Printhead Alignment:
- Still in the Printer Maintenance menu, look for an option to Align Printhead. This can help resolve print quality issues.
Run a Test Print: After cleaning and aligning, try printing a test page:
- Print a diagnostic page or a print quality report to see if the black ink is now coming through.
Check for Air Bubbles: Sometimes, air bubbles can get trapped in the ink cartridges. To resolve this:
- Remove the black cartridge and gently shake it side to side (not up and down) for a few seconds. Then, reinstall it.
Update Firmware: Ensure that your printer's firmware is up to date: Update the firmware on an HP printer
- You can do this through the HP Smart app or the printer’s control panel under the Settings menu.
Try a Different Cartridge: If the issue persists, the black cartridge itself may be defective. If you have a spare black cartridge, try installing it to see if that resolves the issue.
Check for Printer Software Updates: Sometimes, updating the printer software on your computer can help resolve connectivity or printing issues.

I hope this helps.
