Two brand new ink cartridges for Office Jet Pro 8034e All in One Black cartridge has major leaks each time taking the cap off.  How can you take the tab off without leaking going all over the place?

@JCF8, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If you are experiencing ink leakage when removing the protective cap from your HP OfficeJet Pro 8034e All-in-One printer ink cartridges, it is possible that there is pressure buildup inside the cartridge. Here are some steps to help you reduce the likelihood of leaking ink:

Prepare your workspace: Make sure you have some paper towels or a cloth on hand to catch any leaks and protect your work surface.

Gently tilt the cartridge: Before removing the cap, tilt the ink cartridge slightly so the ink is settled away from the cap. This may help prevent ink from spilling when the cap is removed.

Remove the tab slowly: Carefully and slowly remove the orange pull tab. Doing this gently can help reduce the sudden pressure release that could cause ink to spill.

Check for visible damages: Inspect the cartridge for any damages or cracks that might cause leaks. Sometimes, leaks occur if the cartridge or the sealing is compromised.

Handle at room temperature: Make sure the cartridges have acclimated to room temperature; inserting or handling them while they're too cold or too hot can affect the internal pressure and cause leaks.

Dispose of leaked ink: Use your prepared paper towels to wipe any leaked ink immediately, and dispose of them safely.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
