Hi @FrustratedNowHe,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 is not dispensing ink even after replacing the cartridges, there could be several reasons for this issue. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem.

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that you have properly installed the new cartridges. Make sure they are securely snapped into place.

Remove Protective Tape:

  • Verify that you have removed any protective tape or seals from the new cartridges. Sometimes, these tapes can obstruct the ink flow.

Run Print Quality Diagnostic:

  • Most printers have a diagnostic or print quality test that you can run. Refer to your printer's manual or user guide to find instructions on how to run a print quality diagnostic. This can help identify any issues with the printheads or ink delivery system.

Check for Clogs:

  • If the printheads are clogged, it can prevent ink from flowing. Many printers have a utility for cleaning the printheads. Refer to your printer's manual for instructions on how to perform printhead cleaning.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues and improve overall performance.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Verify that the ink cartridges have sufficient ink levels. Some printers may not dispense ink if the levels are too low.

Try Another Set of Cartridges:

  • If possible, try using a different set of cartridges to rule out the possibility of a defective cartridge.

Check Paper and Print Settings:

  • Ensure that you are using the correct type and size of paper. Additionally, check your print settings to make sure they match the paper type and quality you are using.

Perform a Power Cycle:

  • Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve temporary issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
